Talking Maths Intervention Programme

Developing Mathematical Language in the Classroom

Talking Maths is based on the Talking Partners programme originally developed by Education Bradford. It is a 10 week intervention programme aimed at pupils in KS 1-3. The programme targets speaking and listening skills in the context of mathematical language. Talking Maths typically benefits pupils, including EAL learners, who show mathematical competence but who need to develop their use and understanding of mathematical language.  It can also greatly benefit pupils working towards or at greater depth and develop mastery and fluency in maths.
